School Food and Covid-19

The impact of COVID-19 on access and (in) effective support of the school food voucher scheme

Current Projects

The Department for Education implemented a shopping voucher scheme worth £15 per child per week in England to provide support for those children who would normally receive free school meals. This BERA funded project seeks to explore the impact of the school food voucher scheme on children, families and schools.

Research questions
The following research questions were developed to meet the objectives:
1. How have schools responded to COVID-19 in relation to food during holiday provision?
2. What have families identified as barriers to accessing the school food voucher scheme?

Funded by BERA.
